On March 3, 2025, Flexera announced that it completed the acquisition of Spot from NetApp. We’re thrilled to extend a heartfelt welcome to the customers and partners across the full range of all Spot product portfolio including Eco, Ocean, Ocean for Apache Spark, Elastigroup, Spot Security, and CloudCheckr.
Meet Flexera
Flexera is a privately held U.S.-based global technology company that helps enterprises efficiently manage their IT estates
Flexera + Spot
Flexera has a long history of investing in both in-house innovation and strategic acquisitions to build out its FinOps and cloud management portfolio, going back to our acquisition of RightScale in 2018.
With the acquisition of Spot, we will enhance our ability to serve those seeking to manage multi-cloud cost, continuous optimization and FinOps needs across a broader range of services from hybrid cloud, SaaS applications and containers. The combination of Spot’s artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)-enabled technology and Flexera’s hybrid cloud expertise will offer a comprehensive FinOps solution that enhances financial accountability and efficiency in cloud operations.
This acquisition also strengthens our relationships with key managed service providers, distributors and partners that specialize in FinOps and cloud services, allowing you to get even more support to address complex cloud cost or FinOps challenges.
We know it’s essential to offer a wide range of capabilities across FinOps, IT asset management and SaaS management to help you navigate the rapidly evolving demands associated with ever-growing technology spend and risk.
Flexera is committed to helping you make the most of the money you spend on technology.
Information for Spot customers
Rest assured, Flexera will work towards a seamless and smooth transition as we bring the Spot business into ours. Your success is paramount to the success of our vision for the combined organizations.
It’s important to note that how you use the Spot products will not change on day one. We see the addition of Spot as an excellent opportunity to bring the capabilities of the portfolio into Flexera’s offerings. While we don’t have all the specifics of what this looks like today, we will be sure to communicate often and transparently as we nail down the path for product integration, or can share more on the product roadmap, customer events and resources within the coming months.
Be sure to check your email for an invitation to our virtual Spot customer webinar with Flexera leadership on March 19, 2025, where we will share more information.
Information for Spot and Flexera Partners
We’re thrilled to expand our partner ecosystem with the Spot acquisition. Flexera believes that the addition of Spot into our portfolio will allow you to help customers to address their pressing cloud cost and usage concerns, while providing new opportunities to develop or enhance services that accelerate your business.
Join us for a partner webinar on March 18, 2025 where Flexera leadership will share more about the acquisition, upcoming product integration timelines and answer your questions.
Information for Flexera customers
We believe the Spot acquisition will be a huge win for the customers of both organizations. With the acquisition of Spot, we will bolster Flexera’s FinOps portfolio by adding important features such as Kubernetes cost management and cloud commitment management capabilities.
We are also strengthening our ecosystem of FinOps Managed Service Providers (MSPs), enabling them to offer a more comprehensive set of FinOps offerings that covers the full FinOps Foundation framework along with expanded use cases and additional services around ITAM and SaaS management. The Spot acquisition also brings new DevOps users into its robust customer community.
Be sure to join us for a live Flexera customer webinar on March 25, 2025 to learn more. Register below or check your email for the invitation.
Flexera customers can expect to gain in capabilities and a richer portfolio, such as a whole slew of advanced purchase commitment automation and container cost management and optimization capabilities. The Spot acquisition is a boon for Flexera both in market presence with CloudCheckr’s dominant channel presence and with the added capabilities of Spot’s Eco (purchase commitments), Elastigroup (spot automation), and Ocean (container management), which all fill major gaps.
