Snow and Anodot will bridge the disciplines of IT asset management (ITAM) and FinOps together to address evolving issues associated with cloud cost management. As cloud usage rises rapidly across industries, companies are increasingly struggling to attain complete visibility into their spend across technologies and across multi-cloud environments, Kubernetes costs, cost variability and allocation, and bill complexity, resulting in missed opportunities to reduce cloud waste and overspending.

One potential reason is that more than half of IT workers (70% of UK respondents and 53% in the US) believe that their departments spend too much time reacting to problems, reducing the opportunity to be innovative – and 71% of global IT leaders agree, according to the Snow Software 2022 IT Priorities Report.

Survey respondents are 501 IT executives working in large enterprises with 2,000 or more employees, headquartered in North America and Europe, encompassing industries such as financial services, retail, e-commerce and industrial products. More than two-thirds are vice president or higher, and 80 percent work in IT.

Flexera’s certification is driven by an employee engagement survey that measured the extent to which employees across the organisation reported a consistently great workplace experience, considering factors such as innovation, inclusivity, company values and the effectiveness of its leaders.

The Flexera 2021 State of Tech Spend report indicated that the top three CIO priorities were digital transformation, cybersecurity and cloud migration. Digital transformation is still a critical initiative for many enterprises. According to a report from Snow, 94% of IT decision makers said the pace of digital transformation dramatically increased in the last year, and many of their organizations increased overall cloud spend during that time. However, 71% of these IT decision makers say they are struggling to deliver new solutions and maintain the pace of innovation required to stay competitive in today’s business landscape.

IT business leaders have reported that IT asset management has become a complex, expensive and time-intensive task for enterprises as they continue to adopt a hybrid, multi-cloud strategy with software and applications running across public, private and on-premises environments.

The report found that today's top challenges for organizations of all sizes are security, managing cloud spend and lack of resources or expertise. Understanding current cloud computing trends can help guide an organization's digital business decision-making process, vendor and technology selection, cost forecasting and investment strategies to support upcoming stages of a cloud journey.

Eighty-nine percent of IT leaders claimed that IT roles were undervalued pre-COVID but are now viewed as essential – with 90% claiming they have become trusted advisors to the business. With this newfound responsibility and success also comes an increase in digital transformation and innovation efforts: nine in ten IT decision makers say the pace of digital transformation has dramatically increased at their organization over the past year, and another 94% say that innovation is a top priority for their organization.

Snow Spend Optimizer helps IT leaders prepare for software license audits while gaining visibility and control of technology spend. By entering cost data and software agreements into Spend Optimizer, IT and finance leaders can view technology expenses and contracts. Users can view technology spend by department, region or business unit, enabling IT and finance leaders to accurately allocate costs and enable chargebacks to the appropriate organizational budget.

Approximately one-third (33%) of IT leaders stated that mounting cybersecurity threats are their greatest infrastructure management challenge. Lack of integration between new and old infrastructure technologies (26%), meeting governance and compliance requirements (25%), and managing spend (24%) closely followed as additional areas they’re dealing with.
